Gut renovation of Primary Bath for a very special client. The client's brief requested a transportive space for daily rejuvenation. The clients wanted a space that would allow their minds to wander through the ancient baths of the Mediterranean while also paying respect to the Art Deco vocabulary of their pre-war condo on Central Park.

We have long loved the blue marble used for The Treasury of the Siphnians in Delphi, Greece, and thus selected a blue Italian marble with grey and black veins. We paneled the walls from floor to ceiling and tiled the floor in large slabs in the stone. All corners, including vanity edges, walls, and shelves, were finished with a 3/4" radius, creating soft, round edges that, when touched, would bring to life the feeling of a stone worn over centuries. The floor slabs were etched along the central path to create an anti-slip surface that adds depth and texture to the monolithic surfaces.

As our client asked, we concealed all light sources using a custom stainless steel grate on the ceiling, hiding lighting, speakers, HVAC registers, and other mechanical equipment. The screen was also used to conceal the exterior window, allowing filtered light during the day and providing privacy during the evening.
